If you are a home/business owner in the Cities of Oakridge or Westfir, and/or Hazeldell Rural Fire Protection District, your business/home owner’s insurance premiums may be decreased thanks to a new Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating of Oakridge Fire & EMS. Oakridge Fire & EMS improved its rating from a “5” to a “4” in areas with a hydrant system. From an “8” to a “5” in areas within 5 miles of a fire station but with no hydrant system. From a “10” to a “10W” in areas within 5 to 7 miles of a fire station with no hydrant system. In ISO’s rating system, they use a 1-10 scale. The lower the number, the better the agency's rating is. The rating system reflects how quickly and efficiently a firefighting force can respond to a fire emergency. Check with your insurance agent to ensure your insurance premiums reflect these new rates.
